The attached file comes from a stereo cassette recording in 1976. Two inbuilt auto limited ECMs in a portable Panasonic cassette payer.
12 string Ibanez Hummingbird played by Eric Drabwell & the Coronet short scale bass played through a 10w 10" guitar amp is by me. The singer is Mary-Anne.
I revisited this track last year or the year before using 2 diff. singers: one being my then 'cello tutor & the 2nd MP3Clinic's own Lifelyrics. The 1st revisit was quite close to the original & the 2nd quite a development.
This, original, version stands quite alone.
Thrill seeker wasn't too bad - it was the late 80's afterall.

haha this sounds like the old garage stuff I sometimes listen to, about the same quality too....now this one I thinks very cool, if you polished this up it wouldnt have the same effect at all..i could be in a gang fight with this as the background music!

But yeah, I like the way this one sounds. Any cleaner and it wouldn't be awesome. :D

the used this tune fairly recently...man it was awful, theyre awful

yup this ones pretty awesome, even in mono
 
I have a cassette play hooked up to this computer so I can digitize recordings I bought on tape that I can't replace with CDs. RCA out to a combo plug to the stereo mini plug into the soundcard & record/restore in Waverepair.
I still haven't dug up my awful blues track. = this weekend (tommorrow night)

Ya know... Listening to all these old recordings has really given me perspective. Your "compressed reverb" sound doesn't sound all that bad. It sounds way different than what would be considered good engineering techniques today, but your song's style doesn't sound bad at all. None of these recordings sound "bad"... Even with Greg's recording with his dangling mic, I agree with what Keith said... No way the same feeling is gonna be captured through meticulous tracking and pristine playing on that one.

Liked your song a lot, Chris. Thanks for sharing.

man thats a bad sounding drum machine...guitars and singing are good though...didnt sound that badly recorded to me at all??


I suppose if these were all really dreadful we wouldnt still be doing this, but I havent heard one thats awful...no where near it

c'mon..a bad bad one I know someone has one :)

The title of this song is perfect. Before it even got to the chorus I had a mental image of being out on the road in the middle of nowhere - road trip style. Great.
