I have been a fairly active member of the Songwriting forum, but this is my first venture into this group. The reason is that after about 2 years I finally have the material together that I want to record and mix into an album.

So here is the first mix 'Sing Autumn Leaves'.

I am after general notes, but I am very interested on how to create a cohesive mix - with elements sitting together and in the same place - this is better than past mix, but I would still like it to go further.

I use Logic Express

Master with Multi band Compression (Apple - Fast&Smooth pre set + tweaking) EQ (Ballade pre set) and Plat (Low Soft Reverb - 100%Dry 30%Wet) - thats the global. I compress (Light to heavy) everything else big verb on BG Vox (obvious), etc.

People say SoundClick is a thankless compression (bits not sonic), but I have often thought the summing up has helped my mixes.

Cheers for your thoughts.

Listening on my laptop speakers this sounds nice. The loss of quality with Soundclick and low bitrates doesn't seem too bad on this song. The mix overall is nice and clean, with all the parts clearly audible and balanced.
You have a nice arrangement, especially like the BG vocals. This is cool stuff...very danceable/melodic.
Welcome to the mp3 clinic, hope to hear more tunes from your album.
:D:):D:)
