First MIX with my new setup.

Hey man,

Does sound thin.

The vox are so not my style and just listening to them makes me feel uneasy. But I'd still say add slight reverb.

Onto drums, they're your heavy metal the best thing for the job drums. Sound good. They're played very nicely. :)

Guitars are a little thin. I'd say double the guitar track. Leave the current as is. EQ the second track to have some highs around 700Hz area.

Oh and boost the bass.

I'm always trying to make some of my track sounds like yours and it just hasn't happened yet. The guitar has a great tone and is played really well. :)

I dont think its the vox that are lacking depth i think its the guitars, bass and bass drum. Its just you notice the vox alot more. I think just increase the bass guitar's volume and maybe boost the lower end. EQ the guitars alot, not sure how but trial and error. I think also boost the bass in the guitars. Increase the bass drum volume and if it peaks, compress it. Load bass drum adds alot of punch.

Apart from that its very good. Did you play all the instuments or did you record a band?

That was for the first mix btw. i diddnt see the second mix. The guitars sound slightly better in the second mix. But the singing in it (not screaming) sounds wierd, what effect did you put on it, or what did you do to it?
 
Very cool. I think I heard the first mix. But there was more than one vocal track.

I like the drums on this for sure. (playing and recording)

Not sure what it is about the guitar--it sounds right and good, but doesn't seem to fit in the mix. And that doesn't entirely make sense. . .Hmmm. Were the drums possibly a hair loud in relation to the rest? Seems like the guit really wants to be thicker, more present, louder--not sure, but something.

And, of course, as always, More bass!!!!

When you recorded the guitar was the amp at its optimum (i.e. as load as it would get before it starts to get involved and distorting the sound.)
The guitars just need some more power and low end.
 
i would also think about upgradeing from a 57 for the vocal mic, try out an AKG C2000b, i have one and its amazing for vox or acoustic instruments
 
It sounds good, but I agree with everyone else, the guitars need some more low end. Especially for Metalcore.

Hey dude. Went back and listened to #15. The mix overall sounds better but lacking in thickness. Which is interesting 'coz the bass sounds visible enough and the guitars a good and crunchy.

I guess adding mids will help and maybe raise the bass a notch or two above the mix and add more low end to the bass and even some mids. I vote for my previous idea of doubling the guitars. :)

Ok... The bottom end of this mix is lacking somehow. It sounds like everything below about 100 was rolled off. The vocal is unintelligible. You may be going for this effect? The guitar sounds are good, but the mids sound a bit too scooped for my taste. I like the drums.

I'm not a metal type, though I did learn all of the early Black Sabbath stuff as it was released.(Much younger then :))

I would urge a heart to heart with the singer. Does he want to make a good recording or would he rather "be cool" and walk around with the mic? You need him into a decent vocal mic, with a good pop filter.
 
Everything sounds too mushed up in the center and maybe a bit unbalanced too.

Well, guitars might overpower the vox some. Not sure. See what other people think. I like the sound, but maybe a bit loud on the guitars. I'm pretty tanked, so take it with a grain of salt..... :D

I like the guitar sound.....but the vox are a bit hard to hear. And if I heard this as a final mix, I'd still like it. Small nit from me man....
