first condensor mic... between $150-300

i've been shopping around for way too long, and i've finally accquired the dough to purchase a nice condensor mic.

i'd like to spend $300 at the most, including mic and shockmount.

i've been looking at the V67 and the Octava 319, any other opinons? thanks in advance

i like the way you think... is the V67 really such a fantastic microphone? it seems that everyone loves it.

If you go V67, try and get someone to price match a V67G for the Mars price of $149. Mars price is w/o shockmount.

or you could just get a C1, with the shockmount, -10dB pad, low rolloff, and great service, all included for $229.

Fantastic?.....for its price, yes......i think youll be impressed.....as far as bang for the buck, it cant be beat.....youd have to spend at least $300 to get anything to touch it....

btw, listen to Queue about pricematching....
www.abemusic.com will usually match Mars price of $149 and they give you the shockmount....

as far as "great service", ive never heard anyone complain about Marshall Electronics service...you just dont have their owner hanging out on the BBS telling us how great of a mic it is......

btw, what preamp do you plan on using...it is a BIG factor in the sound you will get out of the mic......

for a mixer that can pose a a preamp, i picked up a Eurorack mixer, the tiny one, 6 channels two of them being XLR. it's got phantom power, and it's quiet, and it costed $60. i hope it sounds alright.

Id get the v67 for $149 from www.abemusic.com ...Have them match Mars price....use the rest of your $$$ to get a nice preamp....either an Art Tube MP, or for really nice vocals, a Joe Meek VC3Q @ 199.99.....

Man I hate computers I had an entire post wriitten,hit one frigging button by accident and the whole Goddamm post disappeared.Anyho,I bought a Audio Technica 3525 a couple weeks ago at American Musical Supply for $160.I think they are out of stock but 8th Street Music has them for $150.The only LD condenser I have to compare it to is a Marshall 2001p.As expected no contest,the AT is much more natural sounding with no high end tizzeness.BTW I would avoid the Art Tube MP unless you're going for some sort of effect.I have one and it sucks compared to my M-Audio Audio Buddy.Stupid name but a very quiete and natural sounding two channel solid state(no tube "light bulb")with phantom power.It also has 1/4 inputs for use as a direct box.You would have to spend quite a bit more to get a cleaner,quieter preamp.It sells for $79 from AMS.

and at $79 for 2 channels, its a steal....you could easily pay half that much JUST for a phantom power unit, but you get a very usable clean preamp to boot...sure its a "vanilla" sound but sometimes that is what you need....and it makes a great, low cost first preamp and keeps you from buying trash.....
