what firewire interfaces can run on the protools le 6.2 that i got with my mbox a few years back other than the digi002? will the m-audio 410/1814 work? is there a way to get any of the presonus units to work (firepod, firestation, firestudio)? anything?

im pretty much just looking for something with more than 2 inputs that is affordable that still will work on my protools software. thanks!

something is wrong with it. when i record, whether it be 2 inputs or just one stereo, i cannot pan anything to the left side, it wont record on the left side!!! problem started coincidentily after a friend borrowed it. im not sure how to fix it, ive taken it apart, but i dont do much with circit boards. the 2 inputs are so limiting to me its not worth sending it in to be fixed for who knows the cost. what should i do??

wait, i'm confused. how are you recording your tracks? tell me step by step how you set things up all the way to how you playback your audio. how are things plugged in? What kind of tracks are you using in Pro Tools?

and don't take it apart unless you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing (and when it comes to digital gear, most people don't)...many of the times opening it up will void your warranty.

well..i know i dont have a warranty anymore..i got this thing like 3 years ago. soo..heres what i do.
usually i am micing the kit with 4 or 5 mics, then lining that into inputs 1 and 2 (TRS) intending on panning hard left and right, but when i play them back, usually using headphones off the backplate, the left side has either nothing or just horrible sounding fuzz. then i end up just having to record those left and right outputs off the mixer as mono tracks. not sure what is going on here.
another part of this problem is that i have to plug my headphones in halfway to get playback. i plug my headphones into the jack resting about halfway in to get the right sound. if i plut it all they way in, its that fuzz again. I KNOW this is strange, thats why ive been look into other hardware latley. not sure what to do. suggestions? i really appreciate your consideration.

well, the headphone thing sounds like a bad solder joint on one end. Have you tried a different pair of headphones?

if you're using a mixer in your equation, yes make sure you hard pan L/R those individual channels ON THE MIXER depending on where you intend for them to record at. Pan them left, they go to channel 1 on the Mbox...pan them Right, channel 2 on the Mbox.
Then in Pro Tools create a stereo track and assign it's inputs to Channel 1/2 and record arm it. You should then hear and see the meters moving on both L/R channels on the stereo track in PT. Are the meters moving? Is the output of the stereo track set to Output 1/2?
Are there headphone inputs on the mixer itself....have you tried listening to that to see if you hear true L/R signal? What about speakers...do you have some speakers to plug into the Mbox outputs?

I'm just trying to see if it's a heaphone problem, headphone output problem, input problem, or operator error. ;)

Yes, ive tried different headphones, same deal. and yeah the mixer is putting out the left and right signals, the meters on the channel in protools moves like its getting the feed, but it will not play back any quality sound. it also does the same thing when i record my guitar cab, using a close mic and a room mic, i pan them on the 2 inputs and i get nothing in the left. something is screwy.
im going to play around with it within the next few days and see if i can futher troubleshoot it. i'll keep you posted on progress on this thread. again, thanks alot for helping me out. as you can tell..im kinda lost
