Firewire Interface

I've asked about this before and I got terrible responses. I'm looking at 7 interfaces: M-Audio 2626, Focusrite Saffire Pro 26io, Presonus Firestudio 2626, Motu 896 mk3, Motu 8pre, and the Motu 828 mk3. The Motu 896 is a little out of my price range but i can handle. stay focused and don't suggest the Apogee Ensemble because I can't afford it. I currently have a HP laptop running Sonar 4 Producer edition but I'm looking at a Creation Station from Sweetwater so if anyone knows anything about it, feel free to tell me. my hp laptop doesn't currently have a firewire card, it takes 54mm express cards. and for specific needs i don't care about MIDI because i don't use it, it doesn't really matter how many mic pres r on the interface because i have adat pres. and for specific ins and outs, i need some pres on the interface but two are fine, line ins (preferably for every mic pre i want a line in), preferably inserts but i know those really only come on specific preamps, word clock,adat in and out (at least 8 channels), the unit has to be expandable, and as many outs as there are ins (xlr, trs, or adat outs, all of them are fine with me)
 
Firewire interfaces need TexasInstruments chipsets. They're the gold standard.
Belkin and SIIG make cards with TI chips. Go to newegg.com

Personally, I've been using a Motu828mkII for a couple of years with my XP laptop and daisy-chained to a Glyph firewire drive with ZERO problems. (and I've got TexasInstruments firewire chips built into my laptop)

I can expand out to 60 simultaneous i/o's. The 828 line is built for those who want to use more outboard gear with analog and digital i/o's.

I'd buy another Motu interface in a heartbeat.
 
I have an 896HD, with a couple of black lion mods, and I like it very much.
