hi. i'm a noob here so bear with me please...
so i'm about to buy my studio setup with mic pre's, compressors, power conditioners, blah blah
but i'm about to buy a focusrite saffire pro 40 and a yamaha 14-input mixer. now i know there's more than one input on the interface, but is this the best way to record if i put this into my mac?
the "proper" setup im having in mind is i would feed the mic and whatnot into the mixer, then feed the mixer output to the interface (basically have the whole mixer's output into a single input on the interface), and then through firewire, to the computer. is that right or is there something i have to fix in that process? or is either the interface/mixer completely unnecessary and you only need one and input the track into the computer some other way?
also, i don't like how the saffire doesn't mount on a rack... is there a firewire interface that does mount on a rack that is equal to or better than the saffire? i don't need the pre's because i already have separate preamps so ill never end up using the pre's on the interface. just a firewire interface that's very good for the firewire conversion of the signal
