Hey, I just bought a firepod and hooked it up to my Ferari Laptop, this laptop can more than handle it. Upon installing it correctly, after opening up the Cubase LE program I could only record two tracks at once. And it looks like they restrict you on using the full eight. Is this true? Or am I just doing something wrong. There were a lot of mishaps with my first experience with it. Thanks,
Tom

Someone can correct me if I am wrong. But some versions of cubase LE only allow two tracks at once. I think presonus released a version of LE later for the firepod that allows 8 track recording......again I think that is what I read, but could be wrong. Try there website or cubases website for an upgraded version???

You are correct, Some versions of Cubase LE will only do two tracks at once.

what!?!? thats nucking futs.

go up to the device manager, or device properites, or device set-up, I don't really remember which.
But anywho, beyond tracks 1/2, you have to active , 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8.

make sure you select the right input for each track.

peace.

oh, and if you do actually have a version that doesn't allow more than 2 track recording, then download cool edit pro. ..unless you can upgrade for free.

I believe its a limit of 4, not 2 (unless I have the version that allows more, I've never tried more than 4 though). Regardless, I know its less than 8 on the limited version, its numbskullish for presonus to release that version with the firepod, but oh well.

Mis-information sucks

Q: Why can I only record 2 inputs at a time in Cubase LE? / Why can I only use 2 outputs in Cubase LE?

A: You can record 10 simultaneous inputs with the Firepod in Cubase LE. You need to activate the other inputs/outputs in order to use them. Go to the Devices tab, then to Device Setup. Highlight “VST Multitrack”, and select the “PreSonus ASIO” driver and “Internal” clock. Now go back to the Devices tab and go to “VST Inputs”. Expand the window to show all input busses and activate each buss by clicking on the “power button” (the button will turn blue). Now all inputs from the Firepod will be available to choose from for each track. Go back to the Devices tab and go to “VST Outputs” and activate each output buss. Now all physical outputs on the Firepod will be available to choose from as an output for each track in the software. At this point, you should be able to record from any physical input and playback out of any physical output on the Firepod in Cubase LE.

FYI: The instruction manual for Cubase LE is available electronically by pressing F1 while the program is open. You can any info you need about Cubase LE this manual. You can also access the documentation under the “Help” tab and “Documentation”. If you need help with a specific issue, go to the very bottom of the PDF to find the Index. You can use this to look up a related word and click on the appropriate hyperlink to find the information you need.
