Hi,

I have a Presonus Firepod and a Mackie 1402 Vlz. Short and simple. How do i set them up?

Its doing my head in! Please help!

Doesn't the firepod have preamps? What are you wanting to do with the mixer?

I got the mixer given to me, so i just want to hook it up to it. i have plenty of cables, do i hook the cables up from the input of the firepod into the line ins of the mixer?

Here is a diagram from thier web site, you really dont need a mixer the sofware has one for you.. But If you have to have it take each direct out from your mixer and plug it into a input channel on firepod, make sure you turn the pre's down on the mixer on all channels used, send the firewire to your computer.

Hope that helps

What do you want to use the mixer for though? Mixing outside of the box? Do you want to add eq,comp etc. as you record? just for monitoring?

You have AD conversion in the firepod and preamps which I'm guessing are as good as the pres in the Mackie. The mixer is giving you nothing but more circuitry (and so unnecessarily degraded audio).

I know it's tempting to use gear because you have it but in this case I think you'd be doing more harm than good by incorporating the mixer into your recording chain.

I agree with Kevin, you really dont need the mixer as I stated in my last post!
