Emeric, the new "Feedback" is freakin' great......the doubled vocals worked SO fine....this is one of the best, if not the best home mixes I've ever heard...the guitar work is awesome...everything in this song works......I didn't remember the acoustic sound at the end from the first one...maybe my memory's shot, but it was a perfect ending...I also didn't remember the drums being so good...this song alone will define your cd as a cut above, no shit.....teddie, ric, brad, y'all gotta hear this, it's something you three in particular will dig.........gibs

Hats off to Loan and Page! Generally, I dig the arangements and the jam parts. More extended jam parts please. =) Obviously the sound quality is fanetayshtick These tunes are like Pink Floyd meets Robin Hitchcock.

Congratulations!

Hey Emeric, glad to hear you finished your project. It sounds fantastic. I really like how everything has a place in the mix. Guitars are layered in there, and the vocals sound great. Drums are awesome. I've downloaded "All Away" and when I get more time, I'll download the others. Great job.

I have a question...what now? Are you going to press CD's, or perform live? What's next for Loan & Plant?

Kaputo: Glad you like it, thanks!

Gibs: I probably wouldn't have doubled the vocals, but it seems to work better. I certainly wouldn't have without the great suggestions from the mixing clinic.

Cmiller: What's next? Project 2. No live gigging here, just recording. BTW, I hope to get to your drum tracks this evening.

Cool, no sweat...whenever you get around to them is cool with me.

I'm surprised that you aren't taking your tunes out to the public. Do you just not want to hassle with a live band? Are you going to sell CD's? I'm really curious, because the music and recording quality is top notch...people should hear this stuff. I look forward to hearing more from Project 2 (not to mention the stuff I haven't yet downloaded from Project 1).

Yeah, bands are a hassle, that's one reason :). The CD is for sale in a limited way, I'll send you out a copy with the drum wav's.

Emeric...
What an excellent effort! VERY impressive!
How many times have you been told that you sound like John or Julian Lennon? It's amazing.
I hear a strong Brit-influence in all of the songs.... Beatles, Oasis, etc.
I definitely would like a copy, and I also think you would get airplay if you send a copy to BeOnAir.com, the internet radio station that is currently playing several songs from my Mac Brothers cd.
Let me know.. I'll put in the good word for you with the Operations Manager. :)
How about a trade of cd's? Mine for yours?
I'll e-mail you on this.
Once again... EXCELLENT JOB!

Hey Buck62,

Thanks!, I may take you up on that BeOnAir thing. CD-Trade sounds fine. Mail me.

Hey Emeric, I checked out "Feedback", and liked it a lot. The only other song of yours I had heard before this was Funk 2 or whatever and I loved that one. I will definately check out some more when I have time. I like your voice and your style, and the recording sounded good to my ears. Awesome job, really impressed.........Ray J

Just got the CD

Sounds Great! I can see you spent some time tweaking those drums. Just the right amount of thump.
The whole thing was worth waiting for. Thanks for your hard work on this project. It will be an inspiration to many others here and elsewhere.

Hey Drstawl,

Wow that's amazing postal service, how come it takes a month for stuff to travel in the opposite direction?

Glad you like it, I ended up tweaking a bit more when I said I wasn't going to. Very minor changes though - I'll send version 2 out to you tommorow!

Some Theories

Maybe they noticed the cryptic emblem next to my name (a reproduction of which is available at the very bottom of this web page: http://members.home.net/drstawl/etc.html ), thought my little package was some sort of threat to Canadian security and put it into some lonely little bin until the bomb squad could find time to inspect it properly.
This isn't a religious thing, just an icon I invented in 1970 and then chose to use as a symbol for <me> as opposed to a symbol for my <name>. It has its roots in a document called "The Declaration of Independence" where one of the signers had a similar (though much more simplistic) emblem next to his John Hancock. Or maybe those shitty pens just leaked all over the parchment.... :)

Emeric, finally I get to listen to your stuff without having to fight one of those "free storage" sites!

Excellent sound on everything I listened to.

I like the way the accoustic plays with my ears on The Time Has Come. I've been trying to get a similar sound for a time now with limited success. Your vocals on this song really stand out too. Nice riff at ~1:47!

I also listened to Feedback. Another killer acoustic sound and great vocals. Your voice kinda sounds like Paul McCartney on parts of this tune, especially where it's doubled (is it doubled all the way through?). Sweet little spanish riff at the very end. Good song! Just to say one negative thing, I don't like the lead guitar sound on this as much as on other songs....too processed.

You have quite a talent for writing excellent pop tunes. I wouldn't be suprised to hear your shit on the radio someday. And much to the joy of the record company, you'll be able to produce your own stuff! :) Man, you make some of the most open recordings of any of us non-pros on the board! I listen to your recordings and not once do I think, "hmm, it's a weak on the bass" or "the vocals don't stand out" or anything that many of us have trouble with. You're doing something right!

So what's your favorite tune out of the bunch?

Slackmaster 2000

Hey Slack, thanks for taking the time to listen.

There were originally 2 different acoustics left right on Time Has Come. One developed digital glitches for no reason, so I had to kill it. The right channel is a copy of the left, move ahead a few milliseconds, with heavier reverb on it.

Your right about the solo in Feedback, it should be less processed. The solo in All Away has a similiar sound which I'm not particularily fond of either. Vocals are doubled all the way through, heavier double on the chorus, same deal with "All That You Want". .

Favorite song? Tough question, at this point I'm pretty sick of all of them. My favorite recording one is "All That You Want", least favorite recording "All Away". Favorite song is probably "It's So Sad".

Thanks again.

Yo Emeric

Was just sitting here listening to Wonderful Day. You have tight sound dude.

Along with the obvious stuff, I love the attention to detail. Letting the cymbals fully ring out at the end of Feedback, for example. I think "Time Has Come" is my favorite this week.

Get this look. Click here.

Got the CD today. Good CD, Emeric, good tunes, good playing and singing, good sound. Anyway, you know me - I've gotta comment on the bass - I really like the bass on Wonderful Day. I really like the backing vocals on that track too. I really like the military drumming at the end. And that's just one tune. Nice surprises throughout.

I'd like to apply for the position of producer on your next project, please. Ought to be pretty easy. Loads of glory, very little work required.

Damn... Singapore and Perth aren't that far apart... where's my CD??? It'd better come before the end of the week... mind you the last 4 or 5 CD's/videos I've had shipped in from people in the US or UK seems to get opened by customs... I don't know what they are looking for but the packages are always covered in yellow tape saying "Opened and resealed by Australia Post. Contents examined by customs" - I hope you didn't put that crack I asked for in with the CD Emeric ;) Soon as I get it I'll let you know what I think...
