Yeah, it's like I said, one day the light just comes on and you "get it".:D

Firebird,
That's exactly what I do when I attempt to finger pick...I just cant wean the flatpick. By the way, has anyone used finger-tone picks from Propik? I saw an ad in Acoustic Guitar mag, they look interesting.

matt I took lessions from an old buddy of mine's Dad. As far as where in Ga. I am. I am in the part that is said to be next to hell. Which is a few miles outside of the Arm pit of the state. Augusta.

I took lessions in Kansas City. I hope that helps.

FINGERSTYLE GUITARIST

Hey--- I have heard a song by a 25 year old guitarist named Thomas Leob---awesome fingerstyle. Been trying to find a cd but to no avail. Anybody familiar.

Wow ! here is a post I can relate to , I play with a thumb pick ( Fred Kelly speed pick (not that I'm fast mind you , that is just what it's called ) and my fingers . I have nails sometimes when they don't get whacked off just by living . Have any of you heard Spanjazz by Lenny Breau ? The first time I saw Lenny I knew that I had to throw away my flat pick and become a disciple . I play a little travis style but mostly don't think about my right hand . I don't have the speed that a flatpicker has but Ive never thought of that as a defficiency . I play mostly Rock/Blues and wannabe Jazz , although I have a few little country things that I couldn't do without a thumbpick and fingers .

KAKI KING

There's a cd due to be released next month, by KAKI KING I have heard from people that have heard her play say she is a prodogy, she's currently touring on the west coast. Her cd is called "everybody loves you", I can't wait to hear it.

I think

G'mornin 64Firebird,
Once upon a time, I locked myself in a room, for a couple of months, with a Happy Traum book, a Stephan Grossman book and a couple of oz's. I would play the same passage over and over, ad nauseum, and never get tired of it.
When I surfaced, I was hungry and drove too slow but I could fingerpick.
Now the only time that I give it much thought is when I'm learning (arranging, writing, orchestrating) a new song. I wish I still smoked. Cause, sometimes my hand wants to pinch when what I need is a good pluck.
That's my story and I'm stickin to it,
I think,
Bill

I love those styles. I love Lenny Breau. Can't pull off that convincingly, but it's all about the journey, eh?
