Last night, I won a Digi 003 Rack Plus with PT8 and an iLok for what I believe was a great price. After years of running Adobe Audition 1.5 through a pair of Presonus Firepods, I am making the switch to Pro Tools. i will be running this on a PC using Windows 7. I am so excited, I just wanted to share! I have been a long, long time lurker around here. I will post some pics of my studio (almost finished) in the Show Your Studio thread in the coming weeks. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hey.
I duno how much you paid, but personally I'd sell the 003 and use the cash to upgrade to PT9 then keep your firepods,
unless you need the digital IO of the digi or something.

I had a 003 console and sold it when PT ditched the proprietary hardware thing. I'd love a pair of firepods. :)

Ooh, while i remember, if your digi was never registered, you can register it now and be entitled to a free pt9 upgrade, but shhh. :p

Well, I live in Joplin, Missouri and there was a devastating tornado that destroyed one third of the city in May. I am thankful my family and I were not harmed and my home was not destroyed, only damaged. During the power surges, I believe the Firepods may have met their demise. When I tried to fire them up in June to see if they were working, I found that they were dead. It's ok, it has forced me to make the change. As far as whether or not the Digi was registered, I will soon find out!

OOH sorry to hear that man.

Puts hardware dilemmas into perspective though huh?

You might get lucky and find it's a fuse or a replaceable component in the psu or something. Are you handy that way?

There's nothing wrong with the digi, but out of the box it only has 8 mic pres (as I'm sure you know), so it's a big step down in immediate IO.
What are your needs in terms of IO?

Most definitely! I am handy with electronics, I work in Research & Development at a Scale manufacturer. I am not an Electrical Engineer, but some of my coworkers/friends are. I just haven't had the chance as of yet to see what is actually wrong with them. It did force me to make a change I had been resisting for a long time. I will most likely sell the Firepods later. As far as IO, I really never used more than one of the Firepods at a time any way, so I wont miss much.

Ah cool. Well, go nuts then, you'll love it! lol. Plus if that registration thing works out you get a bonus! :)

I don't know for sure.

With the amnesty thing though, you certainly wouldn't have to pay twice.
