Ok, I know this is another "which is better" dealy. But I have finally gathered enough info to come up with my two canidates for mics. I will be recording Acoustic gtr, voc, and not much else, maybe djembe/ashikos. My two choices are the AT 4040 or the SP C1. Now I don't want to make this a long discussion I just want people to say which one they think will be better to keep it simple, don't want to crowd the forum, just want help with this last elimination. Thanks

I think the C-1 would be a better choice if you prefer more of a flattering, high-end glossy / sheen, scooped mids kind of thing mostly for vocals.

I think the AT wouild be a better choice if you just prefer a more natural, realistic reproduction of the sound source -- with a dash of presence in the midrange, more versatile on many different kinds of things.

4040. Have had one for 2 years and the sound is big and natural. I park it a foot in front of my acoustic's soundhole (with an NT3 at the 12th fret) and the sound almost makes me shit my pants. Went back to this combo after realizing I didn't like my new 603's as much as I thought I did. The 4040 rocks for the bucks.

AdrianFly...your website...umm...you really shouldn't hold back...let it out. Don't let it build up inside.

That's funny stuff man! Chess is right on. I would get both.

The C1 is a great vocal mic, but only an average mic for stringed acoustic instruments. The AT4040 would be a better choice, IMO, for your applications, guitarfreak12.
