When i turn up the reverb past 3 it squeals of its brain... does anyone know what could be causing this??

We tried swapping the pre-amp valves around to no avail.

Even though the reverb feeds back does it work? If not, you may have a broken spring in the tank or someone installed the wrong tank and the impedance does not match. That has been my experience.

Yep, sounds like the tank. The one on my '68 Super went bad and I had a olf Fisher Spacexpander reverb laying around and the tank looked identical so I popped it in and it sounded exactly as you described. Wrong impedence.

I've solved the squealing reverb problem in my deluxe by merely cleaning the contacts on the back of the amp. Remember, cleanliness is Godliness!
