Depending on your playing situation(s), and available bucks to spend, a Vox AC15 (1x12) will beat the crap out of any of the Fender Hod Rod amps, any day of the week.

well I play through a Peavey Classic 50 w/410 Blue Marvels
At low volume it is so sweet and when i need the grunge and feedback this is just what the doctor ordered. Check it out sometime before ya buy and you will agree

Match your guitar to your amp
My buddy uses a Vox with a Strat and if you like thin sound that's fine. My Les Paul's Humbuckers have extra windings that makes the drive on my Hot Rod scream. Every guitarist in town has complemented my big, fat tone.

A Hot Rod DLX or Deville will make your ears bleed. They are that loud, especially if you want to crank it to make it sound good, which you kinda do. At least I do, or I'm just noty satisfied.
Try a Crate V-3112. 30 Class A tube watts. It's still very loud, but it will sound much better as it makes your ears bleed. This is the same as a Palomino.
