...To position your mic inside your kick?

I've noticed that "for the most part" it seems wherever you position it it basically sounds the same. certainly an advantage for a quick set-up, but I do find it a bit of a bummer when trying capture a different sound...I've been using a speaker mic on the outside for super sub low end and the D-6 right up close to the beater (3inches off) for the click.

Right inside the hole in the kick drum. If you want a little less boombastic tone, try just mic'ing the outer "skin" (if that's what it's called).
