I have yet to really make any of my home rock-type recordings available (other than the mostly covers on my website, http://www.nseng.com/jason ), but as an experiment I got an account on mp3.com. I uploaded four works in progress from my soundtrack to an upcoming computer adventure game. It's all synth, so I'm not sure what recording/mixing advice could be given. But if anyone's interested in hearing a little electronic music, you can check it out here: www.mp3.com/P_o_T
Feel free to give comments!

Hi Jason,

Nice melodies and counterpoint harmonies.

You setup some really nice moods.

What's your background? You have a very
Baroqueish sense to your song structure.
I happen to enjoy that period.

I HiFi'd all four. Keep up the good work.

That's nice stuff. Very creative writing, really sets the mood(s). Must be a lot of fun writing for that type of project.

I downloaded two, The Camelot Forrest, and Incidental in C Major....Forrest had such a nice spatial feeling, moody in a pleasant way....Incidental was great...like was said above, baroque.....I know one of the artists at Realmquest, I wonder if they use music....I'm not very familiar with these games....I really enjoyed listening and thought they were mixed beautifully...gibs

I think it would be very interesting to do music and sound design for video games. This stuff is perfect for it. Really interesting atmospheres and moods that you create in these tunes. Very creative. How did you hook up with this game developer? I went to the site that was on mp3.com, but nothing really seemed to work for me :(
Anyway, I find this type of work very interesting ... thanks for sharing it.

I really enjoyed your game stuff! I particularly like "Incidental...". I wish I could do stuff like that. Thanks for sharing it!

Thanks so much for all the compliments!
Ric asked about my background. I'm a former trumpet player and music education major, so I suppose you could say that's where the more "classical" influences come from.
Unfortunately, I had to drop trumpet when I blew my lips out. Oh well!
And BigKahuna, you mentioned problems with the website. Just in case I made a typo at mp3.com, here's the URL again: http://cgo.adventuregamer.com/neptune/
You probably aren't on AOL, but I don't believe the site works with their browser. It might not work with Netscape either. It does with with MSIE. I have to be honest; it's a pretty poorly designed site, and it hasn't been updated in way too long.
Finding Neptune was totally random. Some of you may have heard of the game company, Sierra On-Line. About a year ago, they went through some serious restructuring, resulting in over 100 employees being laid off. A forum was set up on the net for former employees to keep in touch, and for fans to talk about the demise of their favorite game company.
Anyway, I saw a post from a guy looking to start a volunteer-based game developer over the net. I figured I'd always wanted to write the soundtrack for an adventure game, and that was my chance. As I understand it, the volunteer status may change if the game finds a publisher. I'm told companies have shown some interest. And becuase of where the post was made, former employees of Sierra are also in on the project.
I'm not expecting much, but who knows? Maybe the game will have some success. And even if it doesn't, maybe this experience could get me in with a bigger developer one day.
And even if THAT doesn't happen, I'm having fun. So it's all good. :)
