To much verb on the vox. How are you mixing this track. Is your room treated? I listened to both mixes.

Well, I'm happy with the effect on the vocal now and I agree it works well for this spacey tune. Yep, room is treated - DIY bass traps and panels.
Mixing in Reaper and just using my ears, lol. I'm certainly not a professional. :)

I listened to the 2nd version. I think the reverb can stay where it's at on the vox. Works well for this type of song. Wouldn't mind hearing a little more low end, but it's okay where it is.

Yeah, the vocals are a bit pitchy and while it's nice to have a natural singer who doesn't quite hit the notes exactly, it works for some styles of music and not for others. You can do moderate pitch correction without taking away authenticity or honesty. In fact, if done properly, you would never know a vocal track was pitch corrected. Keep in mind, the Kanye West's of the world obtain their horrible signature sound by abusing autotune, it doesn't have to be that way.
Thanks. Yeah, I did start playing with pitch correction some on this yesterday just to see. I honestly didn't hear that it made that much of a difference, but I'll try and mix it down and post.

Here's one with subtle pitch correction and slight bass boost -

So I came back to this song and remixed with more realistic midi drums - Radiant Replica - it's the first track on
the page - Memory's Cage. My son says the drums are off a bit, but I don't hear it and everything looks fine in Reaper and
plays in time with metronome. What do you guys think? Thanks!

Yeah really great. I think I'm listening to the most recent? I think there is too much verb on the vocal and in general. I think it would be cool to use various amount of verb to place the instruments and sounds from front to back. On the vox, play with the reverb eq, pre delay and length to bring the vocal in the front. Then you can use various amounts of verbs and delay to place the instruments and sounds behind it. I hear the ebow being the furthest back along with the warble synth. i would also play with panning a little more. Leave the outside for the great sound effects and bring the core instruments in tighter. Like the piano and acoustic. Nice job!!

Thx Elton - that's helpful - did you click on my site link first to listen? Radiant Replica I really want some
feedback on the new drums too, but everything you said makes a lot of sense. : )
