I agree with the Battery II assesment. The drum sounds are extremely good, layering of drums is easy, and the sound shaping options are great. Not too heavy on the CPU either.

I guess Reason 3.0 just dropped, I have no experience with Reason and everyone says it's a great program if you do a lot of rap and hip hop. But with a price tag of $499 for a soft synth, I'm a little skeptical to run out and buy it.

just started learning Reaktor 4.

very very very very deep!! pretty amazing what softs can do nowadays!!

one more vote for z3ta+. stunningly simple to use and comes with great presets that simply rock.

another vote for Pro-53! ;-)

Just picked up a copy of Waldorf PPG Wave 2. Hell Yes!!!! My new favorite. Very good at emulating the original (Although the original Waldorf Wave, was much better than the PPG it replaced). Still love FM-7 and V-Station too.

My favoriote is the chameleon synth. I have absynth, edioral orch, and a couple more. The Chameleon blows it away. It has some great presents and hands down the best morphing ability ever!!!!

Blows away Absynth?!?!?
Those are damn-near fightin' words
Actually I haven't used Chameleon, but Absynth rocks. I'll have to go read up on that one. I'd actually like to hear it.

Don't get me wrong, Absynth is really good, I still use it and love it. Chameleon is just so much better for my type of music. I like weird sounds and I can get that with Chameleon easier then with Absynth.

I don't have a favorite softsynth. Not enough character.

from someone that has never owned a hardware synth, I like Reason. It's easy, quick, fun, and does'nt sound bad to my green ears. I like the Malstrom in particular.

The Voyager sounds pretty damn good to be. I haven't experimented with many though. Crystal seems to be THE softsynth.

My vote's for the GForce Minimonsta. Great Minimoog emu. Their "melohman" concept allows you to use one octave of your keyboard controller to manipulate the filters, etc. Great for guys like me who don't have a fancy controller with knobs to assign, etc., but are rather using a Radio Shack style controller.

Most importantly though, the sound is great. I like it better than Arturia's version.

Oh, man, don't wimp out now - we were on our way to a lovely catfight there for a moment....... :)

man yall know yall didnt pay for shit like pro-53 and fm so why dont yall break bread and upload that for us to dl

Tough call, Reason 3 is very cool, Hypersonic is good, NI B4 is a great organ. Missed Arturia in the poll (Moog Modular and Minimoog are very cool). Tough call depending on what you want to do with them. I have the Minimoog Voyager and compared it with Arturias, which was close, very close, but not quite as fat as the real mini.
