Perfect for what?

Generalizations in audio are pretty useless....... a mic that worked for you in one or several instances will not exhibit the same results in someone else's hands having a different room, different gear, and different skill level.

Yup.

Everything depends on:

1) What or who you're pointing it at

2) What's hooked up to it (recording chain-wise)

There are no absolutes.

I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance.

It shows what a great age we live in. You can get a great mic for only 200.00 and everyone takes it for granted.

It shows what a great age we live in. Any company can pay some homeless kid $20 to spam a forum about a 'great' mic they want to sell for $200 and everyone takes it for granted.

"When forum members become skeptical"

Seems they're showing this a lot these days

i had an nt1 for a while. it sure was "fantastic".

i come from a place where everyone's fantasy is to have cymbals sound like a glass jar filled with nails.

I am ROFL. You guys are great! almost as good as ,say..............a $200 mic?

Was that aimed at me? If so, take another look at this post:

i just wanna say a fantastic cheap condensor mic is the RODE NT-1A.. it is simply pefect and for $200 thats a steal..
I'm sorry ... why? How is it perfect? What does it sound good on? What are your standards and what do you prefer it to? What makes it so much better than all the other £140 condensers in the range (AT4040, SP B1, C4, etc etc etc)?

If that's skepticism then, yeah, I'm a skeptic cos I want to know why a new user would come on and post something like that. Anyone who spends five minutes reading here can see that this isn't harmony central ... whoops, I mean, can see that posts here are more substantial and (yes really) objective than this post.

I'm not being funny!

BK - I would say that this mic is almost as good as, say, one of those Rodes ... the number escapes me now.

Sorry, I think that's the right attitude. Everything's been really serious round here again the last few days!

Most likely it's a sincere post.

It would be interesting if Danny feels the same way down the Rode. :)

Chris

All I'm saying is it seems a tad skeptical to presume the whole "pay off" thing - though you were probably kidding. Anyway, just having a jab after the drummer thing :D

I can't help it if your drummer has arthritis at 16 :D:D

My post was supposed to be funny. Sorry if it wasn't.

Well, MY RODE NT1000 is perfect, and so is my AT 4033, and my...hell, I only buy PERFECT things!

Especially if I can get 'em for $350 or less.

Damn my entire life is perfect and I hardly spend anything on it!

Well, it's not like he actually has arthritis. My jokes are falling flat at the moment!
