Howdy everyone!

Here's the deal. I have used EZDrummer in Acid Pro 7.0 to create my own custom drum track for my recording. Question: How do I record my midi drum track with my EZdrummer settings down to just a plain audio track, capturing all of my settings and whatnot? I'm confused. Thanks for the help!

I don't use Acid Pro but in Reaper you just arm a (stereo) track for recording and push the red button and voila you have a stereo wav file of drums. Couldn't be easier.. hope that helps.

It depends on what you want to do. If you're doing this to reduce the load on your computer, you can just use the "Freeze Track" button on the track controls. It's the button with an icon that looks like a snowflake.

If you want it as a file to use in another project, mute everything that isn't part of your drum track. Then use "Render As" from the File menu. If you don't want the whole song, just a couple measures to use as a loop, set Acid to loop that section during playback. Then check "Render loop region only" in the "Render As" dialog.

Well, I don't really want to do either of those, what I want to do is to record the sounds I created on my midi track down to just a plain audio track, all within the same session. "Bus" it down or whatever. That way, I have a "recording" of my midi work, and I can free up my midi track to use different presets and create different layers/sounds. I cannot seem to figure out how to do this.

Whenever I tried the "render as" option, and then opened a new session and tried to bring in the .wav file, it was completely blank. No sound, no nothing. So... I dunno? Lol

It's been a long time since I've used Acid, and I forgot about one other option. That's "Render to New Track", which is available in the Tools menu. That will do what you described. Just be sure to mute all tracks other than the drums.

I just tested this to be sure it works. I muted everything except the MIDI track, then used "Render to New Track". This created a new track, which is empty. Then I painted in the audio using the Draw Tool. At first I thought it was completely blank, but I played it back anyway and there is audio there. It's just very quiet, so quiet you can't see the peaks unless you enlarge the track.

So I tried maxing the volume, then freezing and soloing the track before using "Render to New Track". This time the volume was loud enough so the peaks showed. Before maxing the volume, try just using freeze and solo. I was rendering a MIDI track I had painted, so the attack levels were probably low.

I wasn't using EZ Drummer, since that is installed on my main computer, and Acid is installed on my old one. But it was a sample based synth, so hopefully it will be the same.
