Hey all

I feel so stupid asking this question  ... but here goes... I had some demos recorded in a studio that uses protools. I've just got an mbox (uses protools LE) and would love to be able to convert the demos back into protools LE files so i can study how they were put together. Is such a thing possible?

cheers

Jane

i think it'll open the sessions (not exactly sure)

but unless you have all the same plugins as the studio, you won't see much besides volume levels....... and you won't get much from that because the plugins (eq comp and such) all in their own way change the volume of the tracks (or they change what’s being heard) so if you can open it, use it to play and learn, but there probably isn't as much to learn from it as you want.

thanks giraffe, you've saved me endless hours of stuffing around.

cheers

jane :)

Yup- just open them up.

If they used any of the standard PT plugs they will show up. If they used older versions, they will load inactive. Click on that plugs (Say EQ II) and replace it with the same version on yours (EQ II) and the setting should be preserved.

All the other plugs they used that you don't have will show up disabled, as well. At least you'll be able to see what they were (EQ's, compressors, delays, etc.) so you can see what they used. Without the same plug, though, you won't be able to see the settings.

You may be able to download demos of the plugs they used. (Waves comes to mind.) It could be fun.

Take care,
Chris
