I am tracking in the same room that I am recording in. The problem is that in the deathly quite of my room I can hear the adat growling and whirling. Perhaps my machine is particulary noisy. I could throw a blanket over the thing but it might over heat. I could monitor in another room but the other room is small and the roof is low and parallel. The good room is large with a very high and sharply slanted roof with a wood floor. So if I can quite the adat I would rather stay there.

Any sugestions would be greatly welcome.

Thanks

Short of a gear soffit or properly cooled isolation rack, you kinda have to live with it!

If that other room is nearby or you can rearrange your studio to make it possible, what about getting a bunch of long cables and putting the ADAT in the other room. If you have the LRC (better, the BRC), you can use that to record and play and such. Its most convienent if you can have the ADATs right on the other side of a door that you can open and close from where you are sitting while recording- but its a trade off between getting the machine as far from the mics as possible and having to walk around to hit stop and play and such.

Take care,
Chris

Not to mention the fact that if you're not running balanced lines, you risk more noise via the unbalanced I/O........
