Can you describe your proces of "recording all the treacks onto one audio track"....maybe you'll give us more idea on what to think about

thanks for the reply,
the sequencing is done on my keyboard which in turn is recorded in cubase SX on 1 midi track that's dissolved later for individual track
the drums tracks are there routed to Battery(VST) then i throw in the lyrics i then open an audio track to record it all on one track so i can have it all one track to export it as a song

PS: when the drums track are routed back to the keyboard for sound the audio track records them except for the vocals

Easy

i was told to render my vst track as audio
can someone advise where in the manual i can learn how

Thanks :)

i can't for the love of god understand why people don't use a program such as cool edit to record their cubase tracks... it's much more efficient...

but: Be sure you have selected the audio track when you record... and note that vst output will not be recorded unless you have specified your recording device (can be done in several places, the windows volume control panel for one) to record on audio out... see... mostly your soundcard will be set to record on input, which means that it will not record any oudio being played back from the computer... but if you set it to record the audio out it will record all types, including the input, since this is also routed to the audio out...
if this doesn't work, then i lack some important info... like, what soundcard you have and whether it supports full duplex...

what's the advantage of tracking in cool edit

thanks

Chriss, that maybe so but a lot of people like me are not at all computer minded, I'm a machinist in a minesite, I fix mechanical things, commonly known as a spanner basher, and totally computer illiterate.
When I wanted to record I went 1100 miles to our state capital and went to a music shop full of "experts" who told me what I needed and assured it would replace the old Tascam 4 track which is a piece of cake to use.
from then on it turned to shit.
now you say we need cool edit, what the fuck is cool edit? and what does it do, or is it another gadget that attacks the bank balance?

Don't worry Clive....most Cubase users track exclusively in Cubase. I understand it must be a bit overwhelming if your just getting into computers AND digital recording at the same time. To get my system set up to run perfectly has stretched my patience AND computer knowledge more than a few times. The good news is that your system will kick the crap out of your old Tascam once you get used to it.

I also jumped from 4 tracking to Cubase a few months ago. I discovered that most of my problems came from me not reading the manual close enough, and also trying to do stuff that was too complex before I had really gotten the hang of the easy stuff. Sometimes the "get myself into trouble and try to read the manual to get myself out" worked okay...othertimes I realised that I wasted a lot of time and should have taken a slower learning curve.

Try to read the manual as much as possible. I know it's boring as hell but it's put together very well and has all the answers. I even got to the point that when I was done tracking for the day, I would pick a section of the manual that applied to my uses for Cubase and would read sections BEFORE I totally got into trouble and go figure...I found that I was tracking like a pro in a short time :D

tracking in cooledit isn't better than in cubase, but for a master recording it's great. you can record in so many ways in cool edit. and you can add external gear to your cubase mix live in a master mix, which i often use for tweaking knobs during a master record... hence i record both tracked recordings from cubase and live sounds from my supernova at the same time time...
it's also good at fixing glitches your compression haven't been able to solve...
