Export to Wave level loss.

When I mixdown audio tracks (about 16) the resulting 2 tracks are at a good level. (I've even tried boosting them to just under clipping) However, when I export these to a stereo wave I get a major level loss.

At the same volume setting on my speakers, the resulting waves are at less than half the volume compared to playing the cakewalk file.
It's enough that once burned to a cd, I have to crank it all the way up to hear the song, resulting in added amplifier noise.

Is there a level setting for the "export to wave" command?
Am I doing something wrong?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The faders in the master control section (the ones to the far right in console view) set the volume level when exporting to a wave.

You could also try normalizing the resulting wave file to increase the volume using a wave editor such as Wavelab or Sound Forge.

You may also have some stray peaks that are limiting the amount you can raise the overall volume before clipping. In that case some compression might help.

I didn't know the faders had anything to do with exporting. Thanks! I hope it's that obvious and easy.

checkboxes

When you open the mixdown dialog box in cakewalk, there are some checkboxes to include the mix automation, volume/pan envelopes, and effects and stuff. if these aren't checked, all your settings wont transfer to the final mix/export. i have cake 9, but i think these checkboxes are in cake 8 too... hope this may help a little
