Winner chicken dinner!
How do I get something to sound like it's exploding? How do I get the sound of something exploding so loud that it's making the air go into a non-linear range? I want everything in the mix to sound like it's exploding! I don't even want it to sound like music!

yeah but i don't want to sample replace because that kind of takes away from the uniqueness of the band. I want to get things to sound amazing just with plugins.

Well, if you don't want to use a sample to take away from the band, I guess your only option is to make the band itself blow up or have them blow something up while you capture it with a few mics. Should be pretty easy.

Like a church, or something.

Seriously, boost the bass to artificial levels, simultaneously crank the overdrive distortion, and smash the crap out of the dynamics - I mean FLAT.

G.

Take this rep as your punishment.

Where is farview at???

My Korg 01/WFD (early 90's synth workstation) has a great explosion sample! There is also a combo patch called "Bomber" (or something like that) where some of the keyboard range sounds like a jet flying around. You then hit one of the really low bass keys and KABOOM!!!!! Oh, and some of the keyboard range sounds like one of those cannons from a WWII plane (or somthing like that). Good stuff!
