i have a few question 4 u guys.

1. What is a master, and what does it contain?
2. Do you save all the data from the mixdown session, like.wrk files
3. Do you just mixdown to CD and that's how u store the track.

i keep all the data, tracking, recorded, and mixdown session on a CD, with typed lyrics, copyright and licensing information, and .wav,.mp3,.wma,.rm mixdowns, and MIDI file 1 & 0. I also keep a seperate mixdown as an audio CD. How do u store urs.

I store all the tracks, midi files, 24bit mixdowns, and mastered versions along with any documentation on DVD's. And I always have a backup of that.

If i release an album, and another one of my songs on a compilation, does my mix get mastered separately both times, or do they use the same master.

In a perfect world, you would send them the mastered copy and they would just put it on the compilation as-is. What normally happens is the person mastering the compilation will change some things to make the compilation CD more coherent sounding. I would send the mixes (with fades, if you have them)
