Waz good fam, i'm pretty new to the recording scene yet I have already picked up some good tips and learned some new techniques. I make dirty south beats and club hyphe beats ..... I plan on recording to the songs with vocals and rap. I was just gonna ask is there any hints or any advice from you people b/c I am still young and learnin dis game. I basically wont some basic ideas to help get my dirty south flow.....rollin.

Here's some Hip Hop Wisdom from Too $hort:

I’m so real about these beats, I tell all my freaks
At the studio, bitch don’t bother me
Its all about the funk, live bass
Trinity, mpc, jv-2080, dump some chords with the vintage keys
You hear what I’m saying, learn from my example
Break out the instruments and stay away from the samples
Get your publishing for everything you write
Instead of selling it keep it for the rest of your life
So just take my advice and don’t quit
Cause if you do, you won’t get shit, beyatch

Although.. I dunno I totally agree with not ever using samples... I say use them in moderation...

What will really makes you a great beat maker is to become a musician. What I mean is learn to play an instrument. It can be piano or as such. This will help you understand notes, bars, beats, and how to compose better. This is when you become a true producer and not just a beat maker. A beat maker just makes a beat, but a producer makes the beat, helps write, and makes the whole production. Look at the Neptunes, they will not sell a beat without the hook in place. That's how they get on every track. True producers. and they can play the piano, drums, and bass.

Next, I would get your business together. Register your business name. Get you publishing done by ASCAP. Copyright your beats and songs. Have invoices if your charge for studio time. Have contracts when you sell beats or colab.

But, most of all, perfect your craft.

This all my sound easy to do. But, it takes work...

You may have to get your publishing through BMI, ASCAP requires that you placed tracks already....But Beats is right, about all the rest. It's a good thing your young, because if your considering a career in this, it takes time, patience, and no fear of rejection.
