OK... three words then... explain Jimi Hendrix

Easy. He was a genius, LONG before he ever started using drugs of any sort. He would have been just as great without them as he was with them. Want more proof. Jaco Pastorius did most of his great work straight. Then he met Joe Zawinul, started using and drinking, and generally trying to self medicate his condition (manic-depressive), and his personality, creativity, and his playing, all went downhill rapidly.
Repeat after me: Jimi was a genius, I am not. What he could pull off, I can not.
Repeat that a hundred times, and then you will get the idea.
BTW, please don't take this to mean that I am morally opposed to drugs. I am not. As an occasional recreational hobby, that is fine. I even think that marijuana should be legal. Anyone who has been convicted of a non-violent marijuana related crime should be released. Make it available at the convenience store, just like cigarettes. Tax the shit out of it. It would still be cheaper than it is now, the government would make a shitload of money which they could use to properly fund our schools (including a rational drug education and prevention program), the quality could be controlled (which saves lives and medical costs related to stuff which has been laced with god only knows what), and our overcrowded prison population would be cut by at least a quarter (non-violent drug related crimes make up almost 60% of our prison population) overnight.
I just do not like the idea of people showing up to work high or drunk. You can not do your best work if you are fighting just to control your mind. And even if you are just doing this as a hobby, if you want to put out a good product, it is still work.
Sorry if I talk too much.
