I've heard the bass on these are a little weak. The stuff I want to record uses littel bass. The only drums I use are bongos, and I don't use any bass guitar. I use voice, guitar, electric and accoustic, violin, accordion, piano.....Will these be a good choice? And even if they are a good choice, what other good monitors are there for 300? Thanks!

I'd go with at least a 6, like the PS6 which you can find used for that, or the TR6.

I got the TR-8XL's. LOVE 'EM!!!!

The TR-5's are a bit more mid-rangey, but what would you expect from a system that small. They are REALLY Near-field, but still a good choice if you are working in a small area (That lack of bass can be a big bonus if your stuffed into a corner somewhere). You could always add a small 8" or 10" sub too, if you find that you need just a bit more in the bass-department.

I'd be doing all my mixing in a bedroom......so is the room small enough to use them? It's just a standard size bedroom.

And what about the tr6's for 200? Is that a good grab?

TR-6's would be perfect for a standard bedroom, and you'll deserve a "Dope-Slap" upside the head if you don't grab them for that price.

hey guys, I just picked up some tr6's plus free stands and cables with original manuals for 200. It took hours and over 150 miles of two 16 years olds driving mindlessly, but it was totally worth it. They sound great, thanks everyone for help! One question: On my mixer, when the led peak meter gets up to yellow, I get distortion through the monitors. This is normoal, right?

It must be very loud by that point. Normally when you mix you want it about as loud as a movie theater.
