I just got mine in the mail yesterday and got to play around with it a bit today. I only paid 30 with shipping so I couldn't pass it up. I like it a lot so far, especially on fuzzy/distorted guitar. Also, it's neat to point out the mic on TV during an interview or something...I catch one everyday on sportscenter. Anybody have any user experiences they'd like to share or anything?

They can be a killer vocal mic. Highly underated and a definite sleeper.

Elvis had an engineer during his early RCA days who like using it on his vocals, despite the presence of U47's, 251's, RCA 77's, and such in the studio
mic cabinet. (Elvis later used the EV RE15 and RE16 for his recordings BTW)
IMHO they work best on high baritones or tenors, and female vocalists.

They are also supposedly great on general percussion, and guitar cabs.
Many classical records in the 60's and 70's were recorded with a pair of them.

TV stations loved them in the 60's and 70's as you can see with various famous vocalists who used them like Englebert Humperdink, Jackson 5,
and Glen Campbell.

You scored! :)

Hey, thanks for the info. Vocal-wise, I just spoke into it to get a general idea, and I liked what I heard. I guess my voice might be in the high baritone range. Speaking of percussion, I plan to try it on snare pretty soon as well. If the mic was good enough for elvis, it's certainly good enough for me!

I own two and they always find their way in front of my guitar cabs. I would say that $30 was one hell of a deal for one. I haven't actually put one on snare but I don't think the pattern (omni) is tight enough to keep everything out of the snare mic. It could probably work with careful placement but it wouldn't be my first choice.
