Well let me tell yah the news dudley.
This is all been a pain the butt. My plan would work extremely well except for the fact that "T-dawg" kinda ripped of the "J-Dawgs".
Let me present my plan. The reason why they are considering selling all the gear (not the whole studio name, just the gear) is because they feel it is too expensive for them to handle. I have convinced them that i was adiquit to do the job and pay the lease. So they pretty much decided not to sell the studio, but now "G-Dawg" will be REALLY upset. I decided its not the fact that he really wants the equipment, hes just pissed off because they asked me to run the studio and not him

. SO he is determined not to let me have it.
Anyway, what i have decided would be the grandmaster plan, and infact would make "G-Dawg" happy also (even though i dont want to

). Is we could go ahead and do the sale to "G-Dawg". I dunno how much hes offering though at the moment. This will not include any of the mics, but the rest of the equipment.
Now, the reasoning behind this is this. Even though their is alot of outboard gear that rocks in that studio, the fact is, i would even rarely use it just because it is so much more difficult to use. Sure at times i would use it to get some awesome sounsd, but were talking $40,000 dollars put into that gear on the racks that would hardly ever get used. In my opinion, if they cant afford it, its the first stuff to go. Also, this studio is on a full protools HD2 system with
a Control 24 console. CAN YOU SAY OVERPRICED? I checked out the prices for this stuff and it is EXPENSIVE. Even though its nice, its not required, and if they cant afford it, get rid of it. If they get rid of the protools system then they also have to get rid of their TDM plugins, because they will be useless. So why not just sale their entire studio?
Now, i would build them up a very nice system, im talking a 32 Channel Soundcraft Ghost or Allen and Heath, with really good converters and get some Avalon pres or whatever. I calculated we could keep the price around $30,000 or less.
Now this is a system based on prices from the street, like sweetwater and 8thstreet etc. However, the better news that i found out is the studio is totally connected to Green Mountain Audio in Calorado. The studio is actually a resaler of audio equipment. So the big deal is that we will get everything for wholesale. So im talkinga bout getting an amazing sounding system ran by Nuendo 2.
Not only will these be a more amazing system in my opinion, but it will cost them less money and they will be more happy. Now an even better part, it keeps cuts my rent in half

. So i make more profit off of the studio.
The downside now that I have run into is this. "T-Dawg" didnt directly rip them off but this is what he did.
When he sold the studio as a bundle like that, he calculated everything as if it was the NEW price. As in the price that you would buy it new on the street with 8thstreet or sweetwater or whatever. We all know their isnt alot of difference between new and used but we all know that you cannot sell used equipment for the same as new. So basically, they could be out of about $20,000 dollars which will just be gone and waisted.
So the options is this. THey will either except their losses or just keep the system, because they wont necessarily lose money if they keep it.
The big problem, is selling it all as a bundle. Hopefully "G-Dawg" will pay up to 80% of what they bought it for. Its a big loss, but thats about normal for buying used gear. However, the big problem is if he wants to spend less. They will have a bigger loss if they have to sell everything individually because of this. just and example, We would have to sell the Mackie HR824s for around $1400 for the pair to get around a 20% loss. But i dont think anyone will buy them for that much used. And it kinda of goes with the other equipment.
The only way they can get away with the 20% difference is if they sell it all in one bundle, which will be hard to do.
Anyway, thats basically it. If anyone has some advice for me it would greatly be apreciated. Its complicated right now.
