who makes ev cabs? someone here said that boogie does, but they don't anymore... I'm an ass, and can't find ne

I'm pretty sure mesa boogie still puts EV's in their cabs. They just call them Mesa Boogie black widow speakers, but they are still made by EV i think.....this is similar to how fender puts eminence speakers in their reissue twin reverbs and fender puts their name on the speakers.

they do

mesa/boogie does have evm-12ls in some of their cabs... but only the 1x12's... would you know of any 4x12 that had them

like i said, mesa puts them black widow speakers in their 4x12's which are really EV speakers with mesa's name on them.

I know ampeg sold them as an option in cabinets at one time.

i know that

i know that mesa labels them black widows, BUT those refer to either celestion custom 90's OR ev's and the company does make any 4x12's with black widow evs anymore, only custom 90's

EV stands for Electro-Voice, and is the brand name of a company that makes music products. As far as I am aware, they don't make cabinets (although I've been wrong before;) )

You can put EV speakers in anything you want - they are extremely powerful and weigh a ton, but they do have a very tight sound.

Mesa Boogie do have several different speakers available, go to:

You can buy EV speakers through your local music store, or online.

Unless you have a roadie, I wouldn't suggest a 4 x 12 cabinet loaded with EVs. You won't be able to pick it up.

A 1 x 12 will be plenty of sound for anywhere - and if you need more it's because you're in a venue that needs to be mic'ed up anyway.

While we are on this subject, what did Music Man put in their amps? I had a music Man with a single 12" and replaced the tubes with some I got from Mesa Boogie, it was the sweetest sounding amp imaginable.
Same goes for my Twin, it sounds good and it's got Eminence! But I'm curious about the Music Man.
