I don't know if I'm late on this one but, yeah, you can mod an XLR cable to work just fine....it's just a different pinout.
I have 2 of them...one with a normal cord and one with a modded XLR....just make a short one....maybe 3 feet or so and use it as sort of an adapter.
On the mic, pin 1 and 2 are the coil, and pin 3 is ground. So pin 3 goes to pin 1 on the XLR, and 1 and 2 go to the two signal pins (2 and 3) on the XLR.
It's easy enough and works normally though not exact "fit".
