Hi,
I've been thinking about getting a Les Paul but the price is somewhat prohibitive. I've got $2k CAD to blow on a solidbody guitar and I've been really interested in an ESP Eclipse - II, especially the vintage black. I haven't tried one out yet but everything I've read said it's a nice guitar, and the video's I've found it sounds nice enough. If I could find a pre-lawsuit Ibanez I'd pick that baby up but out in the sticks they're pretty rare. I've got an AES 1500B semi-hollowbody that I've been using but I'm feeling the joneses for a nice meaty slab of rock and roll! Plus - I'm not all that keen on supporting Gibson for the fact that it seems like between them and Fender buying every frikken' music company out there, there is no pricing competition in our western hemisphere and we're all getting planked on the financial end of it.
Does anyone have any experience with these badboys? I've got active electronics in my bass but I've never used them in an electric guitar. I know on my bass I've got to run a -6dB pad on my bass amp to get a clean preamp tone.
What are the pro's and con's of active p/u's in an electric guitar?
Any info would be helpful!
Thanks so much,
Andy
