Equipment Order

So heres the situation -- i got a grant for $800 to buy some recording equipment to compliment the stuff ive already got.
Right now, i have an alesis firewire mixer (16 channel), 2 sm57, 1 sm58, 2 MXL 993's, only 3 stands (2 boom) and 6 cables...
Im looking to get some stuff to mic drums better, and obviously get a few more stands and cables.
Ive got some stuff in mind to get, but I wanted to see if anybody had input - it would really help me out.

oooh and

and im figuring to get 2 or 3 di boxes
1. would it be worth it?
2. im thinking about the horizon straight line SL1 -- any experience w/ them?
 
for drums

Maybe a nice kick mic like a AKG D112 or Shure beta52.
Also for toms and all that look into some nice audix mics i have experience with the d1, d2, and d4 and would recommend them to anyone.

I am more interested on how you got a grant to buy more recording equiptment. If there is a way to get grants to do that....PLEASE let me know.

For drums, I agree with snellular5 an AKG D112 or the Beta 52. you said you have 2 sm57's. I use sm57's to mic my snare, high hat and toms. I have great results using 57's on my drums. maybe pick up another 57. And a couple of good pencil condensers for overheads.

Yeah that grant thing was lucky - its a "creative use of technology" :)
so to be most cost effective, i was looking at the Shure Drum Mic Package any opinions on this?
i figured then i could get this then spend the rest of the 400 on some cables, stands (DI box?) and some other mic/s.
 
What is your goal with all of this? Are you recording bands, yourself, etc.? Every situation is diferent.
 
ill be recording my band and other bands
the range is from chill music to black metal-
i think ive got what im getting now

Kick Drum: Audix d6
Tom mics: 2 AKG D 22, 1 Audix d2
Snare: sm57
hats: sm57
Overheads: Naiant X-Q
Mogami Silver cables

im pretty happy with this, and it leaves me with some extra cash :)
