English rhyming utility

I know this isn't a Cakewalk issue but the following resource is a good utility to find english rhyming words for your songs. THought I would share it with you all. It just got me out of a difficult hole. Couldn't find a word to rhyme with "cat". It came up with "Mat":rolleyes: :)

Er....no......but I do now:D Thanks for the heads up. Who knows, maybe I'll write a winning song this afternoon (beats working, as you well know:eek: ):D

Do Norwegian words rhyme? I have the analogX rhyme thingy. They have words in there that I ain't never heard of!! They do rhyme, though.

Point of order Mr Chairman!

Lyrics don't necessarily have to rhyme. Check out America by Simon & Garfunkel. Great song in 3/4 time and nary a rhyme in sight.

I've part written a couple of songs that don't rhyme (I suppose you'd call it prose - or maybe just crap :))

I think so long as you have the rhythm & meter it's academic whether or not it rhymes.

To quote Paul Simon, "You should never let rhyming get in the way of a good lyric".

Oh yes they do. Lyrics that don't rhyme at some part of the song, can't be classified as lyrics at all! I know that much about lyrics...

AHA!!! Pies! Spy! Why!!! That blows your theory all to hell, Mr. BluesMeister. Although, I admit the rhyming pattern in this one was a little difficult to discern. :D :D :D

Great song, btw. One of my all time favorites.

I agree...but I'm always amazed at songs that do have a rhyme scheme that doesn't seem to get in the way. Those are are just a step above IMHO (my taste of course). That being said...you can't argue with Simon & Garfunkel. Of course it depends on the genre sometimes too. I've been known to take a liberty or two with rhymes :D (not that I'm any expert) :D.

You're finding rhyming words from differening verses in the song!

Pies rhymes with Saginaw?

As for Spy, yes, it rhymes - but it's taken from the bridge passage, not the main verses...

Aaah, some of you were lucky having English as your native language. As for me, English is my 5th language. No wonder it's very difficult for me to pair matching words. So, don't ask me the rhyme for Saginaw... You'll get.... Vagina from me :o :D


what was the rhyme for the word "moskus" Jaymz ?

....uuummmh :rolleyes: ...Smoked Salmon :confused:

... Yeah, they look close, but...naaah :(
