Emu 0404 usb + akg420 + Vista32

Hi, im total newbie, and my english is so basic, sory for that and please be patient and try to uderstand ;P
few days ago i got my new equipment (Emu 0404usb and akg perception 420) i tried to install and connect it with my Windows Vista x32 on i think i did it succesfull xD but i cant to record with it, tried with cubase, soundforge, basic windows recorder, even FL9(weird?:P). im tired for serching solution in forums and reading instructions so i asking you guys. Waiting for response, thx ;)
 
Did you turn on phantom power on the Emu (for your condenser mic)?
 
mmmm i don't know, maybe i do. Can You tell me how to do it?
 
i think i turned it on, when i try to record, i hear only strange noise, something like sssssssssssssssss/zzzzzzzzzzzzz i dont know whats going on
 
nice..... i did it xD you know what happens? xD i just bought wrong cable xD i got xlr to jack hahahahahahah xD now i have xlr - xlr and thats freaking great ! :D voice is realy clear!
