ok I'm thinking about buying an electronic drum set, maybe a roland hd-1 or alesis dm5 pro. I have the alesis control pad and it broke and i've been calling alesis for three days now and their tech support does not answer, what makes me think twice before buying the dm5 pro. so the question is, is roland or anyother electronic drum manufacturer with which you may have expiriences better in this area, warranty and tech support? cause I'm not about to spend 800.00$ to find out that when I need some service or warranty they won't answer my calls. thanks.

Whatever you get, get Roland.. V-drums have the best sound of any modules I've used, even the old ones sound prety good.. I have a pieced-together kit, some pieces are 10-15 years old. Never had one single problem with the brains, or any drum, pad, or cymbal for that matter in the years I've owned em.. I've heard the aleses modules, I thought the cymbals sounded like crap.. They cyms on the newest Roland brains sound great imo, they've come a long way...

Oh, I can't vouch for the customer support in the warranty dept cuz I've never needed anything fixed or replaced. And my v-drums have been abused, dropped, beer spilled in em, kids pounding on em, you name it.. Pads and drums are virtually indestructible..

I have called for parts, heads, pad mounts, etc, and they got me everything I needed quickly.

While I agree that the v-drums sound much better. I own the alesis dm5 pro kit, (which was a "dent and scratch" from AMS) and I have had a great experience with their customer service so far. One of my cymbal stands was defective, and they sent me a new one immediately, no questions asked. I had no problem getting in touch with them; what number are you calling?

alesis world headquarters 401.658.5760 it is on their contact us link and it's the one they sent to my email

I have been using a Yamaha DTXplorer kit for a couple of years now and also owned a older DTXpress(First generation of that set in fact, and it was a guys touring kit I bought used).
Both have and had(sold the DTXpress when I lost my job) held up well no breaks or bad triggers.

I use the kit now to trigger Battery 3 in GarageBand on my Mac.

And Yamaha's tech support is pretty good, straight answers no BS.

Just my three cents, Cheers.
