electronic cymbals

ok so after a little reading on this site, i found that making toms and bass drum pads/triggers are quite easy and almost dirt cheap. (using practice pads, a bit of foam, and piezo elements from radio shack .. part no 272-073/074 )

does anybody here have experience in making low cost chokeable cymbal pads? (Something that could be plugged into a td-6/8/10) What are the triggers in this case?

I would imagine that it ain't piezo elements.

(Hating repetition as much as anybody else, I made sure to peruse this section of the site to make certain that the question hasen't been answered but .. i may have missed the thread)

Before going with "V-cymbals" I tried triggering brass at the bell and rim. Couldn't get solid differentiation.
You're almost gonna have to have two sepaerate surfaces to make it work.
