Effects Real Time??

Ive never seen or used CuBase. I waswonder if CuBase was able to play effects in real time. Maybe im using the term Real Time incorrect. What im basically looking to find out is if i can play my guitar and hear effects while im playing. Most recording programs i run into the guitar has to be recorded dry and then effects added later.

No.... the reason is that the increased latency would be impossible to work with....

On playback, the s/w can compensate for the latency of effect inserts by automatically pushing ahead the track (relative to the non-effected tracks), but obviously, this same compensation cannot occur while the recording is in progress........

ahhh, ok

so i guess the only to hear effect while you play a guitar into a pc is to have a pre effect box...like a effect pedal or effect processors??

yup... or record the guitar without effects and put effects on the recorded track in cubase instead...
