ive found a good vocal sound that i like, but im not sure which order to put the fx (or even if it matters). the chainj is as follows: (all plugins) yamaha vocal rack ( eq,comp,de ess, harmonic enhansor all in one plugin), bbe sonic maximizer, and a bit of reverb.
also, is it better to pan vox hard left-hard right-center, or just hard right and hard left? convert singnal to stereo or just leave mono?

thanx 4 the help

try all the combos you can think of. I can tell you I don't even use many effects on vocals so I don't know if it'll be worth it. I figure I get a lot out of my mic matching with a voice and the eqing...

No reason to convert a mono vocal track to stereo, but everybody has their own philosophy...I would say the mono vocal track stays in the center, with background vocals or doubles perhaps panned either way. Possibly a delay effect or something like that in stereo, but the main vocal would be in the middle. I'm sure others may have very different methods.

I'm a firm believer in if it feels good do it.....I mean if it sounds good, do it....especially when it comes to vocals. If you find something that works on a given voice on a given track, go with it. What you should avoid is adopting it as a preset, or standard setup. It may sit in the mix fine on one song, and be wrong as can be on the next song.

Cheers,
RD
