Whats up; Im having a little difficulty editing my vocals in Nuendo. I currently record and clean up my vocals in Cool Edit Pro2 and do my mixing in Nuendo. I have a rap song, and the artist wants the instrumental to mute on certain words he says, mainly to let the good parts of his lyrics stand out. I have over 20 tracks including vocals and I just want to remove the instruments for about 2 seconds; but I dont know how to do it in Nuendo.

Do I outline the part of the vocal I want to keep? Or do I have to do it the hard way and highlight each instrument separately and precisly on time? THERE HAS TO BE AN EASIER WAY GUYS!!!! HELP!!! LOL.

Look in the HELP menu

I would automate my mutes. Turn on your automation and start muting. I won't mix in Nuendo myself (it is a great program I hate mixing on the PC) but I edit with it. I am not sure if Nuendo automates mutes but it should. If it doesn't, just automate the faders. You could also (maybe) automate the solos?

Nuendo can be a bitch to explain over a BBS. :)

Thanks for the info, I understand how it is. Anyone else got info?

IF IT'S ANYTHING LIKE CUBASE...

...it's easy. Run the audio right up to before the word you wish to mute... stop playback... hit "WRITE" on the mixer... hit "MUTE" on the channel... deactivate "WRITE".... go to the point right after the word (stopped)... hit "WRITE" again... and "UNMUTE"...

Make sure to deactivate "WRITE" when you're done, or you could create lots of unnecessary, funky mix moves & things you didn't intend to do

Ow man thanks a lot. Its almost exactly like Cubase when it comes to editing. My only problem now is the latency; my screen skips to much for taste, even though im runnin a nice system. Oh well, thanks again- good info.

there are a ton of ways to do this, including automating the mutes.

The way I would do it is select all the tracks you want to mute...and split the part at the mute and unmute points.. then use the MUTE TOOL to mute the part. It should affect all your parts at once. that way you dont have to clutter up your shite with another automation track... and if you move the parts around.. theyll stay muted.
