Im getting an interface soon and ive narrowed my choices down to these two. The echo audiofire 4 or the presonus firebox. Which one is better? anyone have experiences? Ive heard good things about both and i think, according to the internet that the audiofire 4 would be the better buy. But ive heard it has bad vst latency, which i dont know what that means so can someone help me out?
I have used the Firebox for about 2 or 3 years...my first ever semipro/ lowend sound interface. Of course I was very happy with the results. Recently I have purchased the ART Gold to chain into the Firebox.
Anyway the Firebox is a rock solid piece of gear (physically)...with slightly flimsy firewire cable inputs...but not too bad.
You can check out some songs I did with it if you want at this soundclick link....first 5 or 6 songs are done with the Firebox, plus some of the other ones.
Sorry I don't know anything about the Echo...vst latency refers I guess to the ability of the unit to play vst instruments live in a midi sense. I have never done this so I can't even comment on the Firebox's vst latency...but I think it is ok.
