Hi !

I'm trying to record from my mixing table using it's coaxial S/PDIF OUT connected to the E-MU 404 USB S/PDIF IN, but there is no signal. As I've read in the manual, the Sync Status LEDs "Int" and "Ext" must both be illuminated.

It means that no external synchronization source is available if I've understood the manual correctly, the external source being the mixing table.

Can anyone help me and explain me the problem further ?

Edit :Forgot to say that I'm trying to record with Steinberg Wavelab

Can you post a screenshot of your patchmix program? That might help a lot. remember to save it as a jpg.

Hi Chili and thanks for your quick response !

Actually I don't know exactly what you mean by "patchmix program" ... Anyway I've downloaded EmuPMX_PCApp_L6_2_10_00.exe form emu's support site. But the installation program says that it Cannot detect a compatible product on my system and then it stops.

Note that I'm using Windows 7 64 bits, so it may be the cause of the problems.

Then do you have the Emu installed and running ok in it's other functions (besides the SPDIF?

Yes the EMU works OK, with WaveLab I can select it as my output soundcard and play some wave file that I can hear in my headphones. Recording seems to detect the microphone/line input as I can see the bars of signal (noise ?) and they are bigger when I increase the volume (A on the left and B on the right).

Usually, you need the Patchmix software to route inputs and outputs to the different ports on the EMU. I don't know if it's 64 bit compatible or not, you'll have to check EMU's website. Most likely, the spdif is not available without the Patchmix program running.

It looks like this:

Hi !

I've made some experiments and found that if I plug the coaxial cable in the coaxial output of any of my CDJ players, the "Ext" Sync Status LED starts blinking, "Int" Sync [Í]still illuminated[/I].

According to the manual, that means : "Internally sync’d, external digital input of different sample rate detected; MUTE S/PDIF input". When only "Int" is illuminated that means that no External digital input has been detected.

I suspect a hardware problem. However, my firmware has been flashed to the latest version.
