I have an SR16. As far as I know, unless you have a midi interface of some sort, you can't just plug into it as a brain. By the time you set it up to do so, you might as well pick up an older D4 or a DM5, which have better sounds than the SR16 anyway. You might be able to find one of the older Rolands that came with their earlier series electronic kits for under $100.

i have owned an sr-16 also. it does'nt have trigger inputs. maybe it could be easily modded?

I toyed with the idea of modding an SR-16. When you figure for what it's worth to destroy the machine basically, it's a lost cause. I just sold an SR-16 (acutally the ion version) for $69 on ebay. I've seen D4's go for $120. Might as well get the real deal (or a Yamaha TMX) and do it yerself.

Man, I'm just dying to see what shows up in that iED01 set! Will it have the separate MIDI interface with a rebadged SR-16...or will that "SR-16/Not" be adapted for external triggers?

Oy! The suspense is killing me!
