Okay Steve :)

If you'd like my help you can always PM me and I'll make myself available to get your problem straighten out.

FYI, you're coming off as condescending. If that was your intention, I really don't appreciate being talked down to. If not, I figured you'd want to know you were coming off that way.

Whilst I agree it's a bold statement - it's my opinion and not necessarily fact.

The reason I don't like it is because it is a delay line based reverb; and you can hear that. As it tails off you can hear the individual delays; it sounds like a cheap digital reverb; which it is.

Suggesting that I don't know how to use it properly; I find laughable.

I did not direct that at you, I made a statement the same as yourself, I said in my experience the ones who say that about dverb are the ones who don't know how to use it. Didn't mean you specifically. As I have read a lot of your posts and they make sense so I have the assumption that you know your way around a session and the how to.

Really. All those attempts to help you with a problem. The last thing I need is to be called something disparagingly.

Fuck that...that'll for sure be my last attempt.

Hey, I just wanted to let you know how you were coming off. If your intention wasn't to talk down to me, then it might be a good idea to evaluate how you choose your words when communicating online. Granted, anything but face-to-face communication usually leads to misunderstanding, and nowhere more than on a silly online messageboard, but if I were coming off in a way I didn't intend, I would want to know about it.

Anyway, thanks for your help: I hope I can figure this out, 'cause it's really quite annoying :/

That's cool man - I didn't mean to make it sound like I was having a go :) And thanks for the compliment :)

Dude I think what Steve said was fair enough; and he politely explained how he felt.

I created a test-session in which I could consistently create this issue with only a Mono Track with a Bus 1-2 send, an Aux track with a Bus 1-2 input and an instance of DVerb, and a Stereo Master Track. 90% of the time, when I opened up the project, I got the horrible sound. When I bypassed (but not disabled) the DVerb plugin, it still occasionally caused the problem. When I disabled DVerb, the problem disappeared 100%.

Steve H,

Try this, just create a new session and instead of creating a send, a bus and all of that just add dverb to the plugin input on the track, If you do that if you do not get the loud horrible noise then it is the way you are routing it, because like I stated in a earlier post the only time i get that noise is when I route wrong. Or post a screen shot of your mixer window so we can all see what's up

I'll try to get to this tonight. If I'm routing this wrong, then there is a programming flaw in Pro Tools, because I'm quite familiar with feedback loops, and the way this problem is behaving, the sound would never go away in any amount of time. When I open up a project with this problem, it makes the noise for several seconds (a variable amount of time), and then slowly dissipates. After this, the program and the plugin function completely normally.

As to the static problem, I've been having it too.
I believe its to do with automation as it only occours on automated parts of the track.
It is a problem with 7.3 for me as well. (just upgraded so we'll see if 8 is stable)
its usually at the start of a session and can be cancelled by bitting play.

I'm on a MBP 2.33ghz 3Gb RAM and it was happening in 7.3 as stated.
When I contacted digi support they said download the newest build of Protools but I just moved to 8 instead

It happens on multiple interfaces I have used my colleges 002R's and my own 002 desk it happens on both. I hopw that helps you in some way

Just to add my two cents, I have had this problem..I got rid of it by doing a fresh install and updating the ilock drivers..it seems that PACE was creating some sort of conflict with Dverb..probably no doubt due to some out of date driver for Dverb.

I noticed it doesn't work well either when you upgrade..as I tried to put Dverb back in my Plugins folder to finish off older projects when I upgraded to 8.0..Had the same problem..except mine went a step further and took up all my DSP and peaked all my tracks. And mine went from white noise in one instance to complete pink noise. I also had to use the Update plugins feature, RESET and then load it..Then it worked.

AS far as DVERB sucking..thats not fair..it only sucks on some tracks lol...
For real though, I like it..It just takes more engineering and fader riding than some other easier apps. But if you are experienced with it, you can make magic
