dumb question

If I slightly speed up the recordings from 8-track when I transfer them onto my computer...will that change the pitch of the instruments? Because I want to add acoustic and keyboard tracks to them afterwards on the pc. I assume they will sound out of tune if I record them to a sped up recording.

Why are you speeding them up in the first place? If you just want the song to be faster, record it to the PC at the normal speed and then use one of the many PC time stretching programs to change the speed while leaving the pitch alone.
