i dont know if the amp would work that way. i'm in no way an amp expert, but i think that would hurt the amp. but like i said. i dont know much about amps and i could be wrong.
i was actually going to reply to this today and tell you that i thought you would blow a fuse. when i got here and read, you had already found that out.
you pull two outer power tubes (or two inner) out and have 50W instead of 100. If you are yousing tube rectifier - you should also pull out one of rectifiers tubes to ensure proper work of an amp.
... and additionally - when you pulled tubes out - you shoud connect speaker differently - i.e. same impedance speaker to half of this value on amp.
f.e.
8 Ohm cab > 4 Ohm speaker out
16 Ohm cab > 8 Ohm speaker out
