Metal dude
To these by any way prevent blisters??? Im mostlly a guitar player, and i dont play drums everyday , so when i jam with someone i generally go off, resulting in some blisters and shit. They look kind off gay. Are they just for better grip on the stick??? or do they protect the hands a little??

Some are good, some bad, some terrible. Everybody has a different take on it.

If you have to wear gloves, you're probably playing too hard. However, I've made a career of playing too hard, so I'm not one to talk! When I need drumming gloves, I go down to the local golf shop and buy two Foot Joy golf gloves- one right, one left, since golfers inexplicably wear only one glove.... They are expensive, but they are *very* tacky for grip enhancement, and once they're wet with sweat you really can't even feel them on your hands. The thinner the better, I say... I've been using them since 1980, which was back before anybody made "drumming gloves", and they work for me.

I did try a pair of the modern drummer's gloves in a store one time a few years back they were thick, slick, and stiff, which struck me as being a losing proposition. You want some skin protection and some additional tackiness for grip, but you can't afford to lose *any* sensitivity or dexterity (especially if you don't play that much). Maybe they are making better gloves for drumming these days, but I sure wouldn't have used those.

Try them both before you decide!

Ha - 'kind of gay'! Why ja think I wear 'em!

Even less seriously, can I just say Ben Daughtry never wear gloves. And that, for me, is that!

well i had the same problems soon hands will get used to it and it wont be gay anymore

When I'm not gigging regularly I wear gloves for extended jam sessions. I've tried several types:

Zildjian: You'd think they'd make a good glove, but they suck. Don't waste your cash. They don't breathe well & once they've gotten wet, they stiffen. The few pairs that I have used had air holes in the fingers - these wear into larger holes. The palm side also wears through too easily.

Batting gloves: Not bad, but can be a little too thick - leading to some of the above mentioned problems.

Easton: My choice of the three. The top is a spandex type material & breathes well. The palm side has a good grip. If you wear anything like a wedding band, expect the glove to wear through due to the stick/glove/ring friction.

Anyway, that's my take. I don't like blisters & I'm not gay. :D

gloves

You can wear gloves to play drums only if they're fingerless, red leather and have that cool long fringe off the sides like Sheila E.
